Application Compatibility Manager v2.2.0.0 Release Notes
January 29th, 2006
New Features and Enhanced Functionality
New Features
Interoperability Tab
Do your applications live in harmony with each other? By using Camwood's Interoperability manager you can ensure you know which applications share resources with other applications. A comparison is performed on your entire portfolio and conflicts between the applications in the portfolio are reported back, which gives an indication of whether applications will "break" each other after being installed or uninstalled.
Complexity Tab
How complex are your applications? How much time will it take to test, remediate or repackage them? Camwood's Complexity manager will evaluate your applications and produce a report rating the complexity of each application. You might find you have 50 applications which are complex and 5 which are non-complex with the rest in the middle, allowing you to plan your resource allocation accordingly.
Enhancements
XP and XP SP2 Rule Consolidation
Individual checks within the XP and XP SP2 rules have been consolidated leading to an improvement in the way in which the detailed 'By Error' reports are displayed. Merging the checks together provides you with a cleaner, easier to read display of the details in the report.
Issues Loading Components
Issues with loading components in the ACM Web solution have been resolved. This includes the following:
- The extraction routines can now process read only MSI files.
- The extraction routine no longer errors when creating certain folders in the user's TEMP directory.
- File Analyser no longer hangs on checking certain MSIs.
Standard User Permissions to Alter Compatibility Status
Standard Users access to change the Compatibility status has been removed so that the account can only view Compatibility that has been set by accounts with appropriate permissions.
